My Bio

my pictureCurrently I maintain the role of Technology Director at Bay Path high School providing network, web based and classroom technical services for the school system and serve as an adjunct faculty member at two colleges teaching digital video, digital imaging and interactive web technologies. Prior to my current positions, I taught graphic communications in grades 9-12 for ten years, worked as a network administrator, Tech Support, Multi-Media designer, Video Production Coordinator and Graphic Artist. I have always enjoyed shooting both film and video. There is a great sense of pride when you complete a project that looks great and at the same time would not have existed if you had not taken the time to create it. I was first introduced to photography when I was ten. My parents bought me a book about photography and one month later a basic darkroom setup. I used our bathroom as my darkroom. I still have the first print I developed. A few years later I turned to making movies with my 8mm camera. The films were mainly claymation but it was a great learning experience. As a high school sophomore and head of the photography club we purchased a video camera and portable recording deck. It was bulky and B&W but we had a great time using it to film games and lectures at school. I went on to major in communications and minor in art in college specializing in video production. I was the yearbook and newspaper photo editor and entered many photography exhibits eventually hosting my own non-silver print exhibit. Thirty nine years have passed since I first shot my first picture and it is with mixed emotion that I admit I no longer use a film based camera but instead use a digital SLR. Photography and video have come a long way. I can do more in five minutes using a digital camera and Photoshop that I could have in a day with traditional film. I have more power and effects on my desktop computer today than I had in the million dollar video editing bay twenty years ago during my internship. My job allows me to mix my creative spirit with interactive technologies. I am a webmaster, network administrator and instructional technology specialist. I employ motion and still graphics in every aspect of the instructional media I create. I have found an outlet to join my creative spirit with my computer interests. This area is called instructional technology. I enjoy teaching these content areas and testing new technologies to make learning easier.
